You can wait for the Yaris GR-4 to make its debut if you are looking for a Toyota hot hatch.
A Toyota Corollahot-hatch might not be happening, contrary to earlier rumors. According to , there are no plans for the GR Corolla at this time, according to Sean Hanley (VP of sales and marketing at Toyota Australia). We don’t have any announcements on Corolla GR, but we wouldn’t rule it out.
As recently as February 2019, a performance version was being considered for the Corolla. Toshio Kanei, Toyota’s Deputy Chief Designer, stated that the model was being developed within the Toyota Gazoo Racing Division. He suggested that the vehicle would be powered by a turbocharged, 1.6-liter four cylinder engine.
Toyota doesn’t intend to abandon hot hatches but it is preparing them with a smaller footprint that the Corolla. Already, the company teases the debut at the Rally Australia of the Yaris GR-4 on November 17. Although there aren’t any details yet, the launch location strongly suggests that it is related to the WRC car. The rally car will be powered by a turbocharged, 1.6-liter four-cylinder.
