They complete a series challenges to test their abilities.
It is easy to compare performance cars. The fastest car wins. Judging off-road cars is more complicated than running a drag race. Carwow has a lot of videos about drag racing, but this latest video highlights two off-road vehicles: the Toyota Land Cruiser as well as the Mercedes AMG G63. They are both superior on the road, but they don’t have equal speed in dirt.
This video compares the off-road capabilities of two SUVs. The price difference between the two models is evident underneath the hood. The Toyota is powered by a 2.8-liter turbodiesel with 204 horsepower (152 Kilowatts) as well as 309 pound-feet (342 Newton-meters). There is also a manual for the Toyota. The brand’s 4.0-liter twin turbocharged V8 produces 585 horsepower (436 kW) as well as 626 lb/ft (850 Nm).
These challenges test the vehicle’s capabilities. The Toyota wins the simple drag race uphill. The second challenge sees the pair navigate down a hill to determine which vehicle can control the descent the fastest. The remaining challenges will test the vehicles’ maneuverability and suspension travel as well as ground clearance and department angles.
Although the Mercedes has a larger footprint and more street tires than its counterparts, its higher ride height allows it to easily navigate uneven terrain. Although the Mercedes is more expensive, more luxurious, and more powerful than the Toyota’s, the Toyota wins by one point over the G63. The Mercedes’ street-oriented design was still impressive on the off-road course. Although the G63 may not be an ideal vehicle for off-roaders, it is still capable and reliable if you don’t mind spending a lot of money on paint or chrome exhaust tips.
