While the NS4 concept is a focus on new technology, especially in advanced powertrains and next-generation connectivity, it’s also a design concept that signals a new direction for Toyota.
Jim Lentz is the president and chief executive of Toyota Motor Sales US Inc. Toyota’s NS4 demonstrates its approach to human connection to cars with technology that takes into account both emotional and rational relationships, car-to-car as well as car-to society.
The NS4’s plug in hybrid (PIH), powertrain aims to improve all aspects PIH systems through reducing their component size and weight. This would result in a decrease in fuel consumption, acceleration, and a longer all-electric range. It also allows for a shorter charging time.
Toyota’s NS4 is very important stylistically. It represents an earnest effort to evoke a stronger emotional response from customers. This is evident in the NS4’s dramatic front and rear styling, highlighted by a sleek roofline flowing into the liftback design.
The NS4 features innovative technology such as an HMI (human-machine interface) infotainment system, side-view cameras that offer a panoramic rear view and special glass technologies which eliminate raindrops, prevent fog, provide 99 per cent UV protection, and the application of an Antisolar film, which enhances electronic device functionality.
