The majority of the interior of this Supra is straight from a road car, but some modifications have been made for racing.

Toyota hasn’t yet unveiled the new Supra Road Car, but it has already begun testing the racing version. The track-spec prototype was shown at the Nurburgring. Spies took many photos. Toyota was not aiming for a win, but rather focused on the development of the car. The spies said that this meant that the car was frequently in the pits and engineers were not trying to conceal the mechanical parts. The prototype is closely related to the Supra road-going Supra, rather than being able to gain the parts for GT3 or GT4 racing. The interior elements from the production model are intact, which gives us an unmistakeable view of the center stack (above). On top is a large infotainment display. There are also a few vents and radio controls beneath them. There are two dials at the bottom and the HVAC controls. It looks like a BMW console, with the rotary controller and drive mode buttons. These photos also give an unmistakable view of the Supra’s engine bay (above). It’s a complete mess. The production version will likely have a plastic cover that hides the wires. Toyota engineers may be able clean up the mess since this car is still a prototype. The current layout isn’t as clean as the fourth-gen Supra (below), however.

In January, the road-going Supra will be launched at the North American International Auto Show, Detroit, Michigan. The official debut of the racing Supra is not yet known. This one is not the only competition variant. It will also be available for NASCAR Xfinity Series.
