The Toyota Tundra truck is the oldest full-size truck on the market today. While Ram and Chevrolet manufacturers have updated their trucks in recent years, Toyota hasn’t sold a new Tundra since 2001. However, that could soon change. New rumors suggest that a new Tundra may be on the horizon.

Insiders leaked information to the TFLTruck.com suggesting that the Tundra’s new hybrid 3.5-liter V6 will be twin-turbocharged from the Lexus LX 500h. It should produce around 450 horsepower (335 Kilowatts) as well as 500 pound-feet (677 Newton meters) of torque. Gas mileage may be about 30 MPG or better. The Lexus’s same engine produces 354 horsepower (263 kW), and returns 33 MPG.

We take this report with a grain. Toyota has not confirmed details about the powertrain. We know so far that the new Tundra will feature a 10-speed auto and , possibly an air suspension. A hybrid engine is possible.

According to the same report, Toyota has not finalized the Tundra’s styling. We expect a bold exterior, a simple, user-friendly interior, and lots of new tech, based on the current Toyota lineup. The body-on-frame platform will continue to be used in the new Tundra.

The new Toyota Tundra will be available to interested parties before the end the year. The new Toyota Tundra won’t be available for purchase until next year and will only be available as a 2021 model. Given the tough competition, we are eager to see what Toyota has in store for the Tundra.
