Although the 86 had a great run, a new one is coming soon.
In the United Kingdom, the Toyota GT86’s nine-year run (known as the 86 in America) has ended. The automaker was able to sell nearly 7,500 units there during its production run. The coupe is not going to be missed, but a new model is on the horizon. Toyota’s farewell sports coupe says, “Ofcourse, this isn’t the end of the story. Watch this space for chapter two.”
At the, the GT86 was introduced in production specifications Tokyo Motor Show 2011. There are a few meanings to the vehicle’s name. It refers to the rear-drive AE86 Corolla The manga is famous for its coupe Initial D. The bore and stroke of the engine cylinders are 86 millimeters.
Toyota has taken care not to give too much information about the second-generation 86. It is still the best clue. From a design trademark registration which appears to show the coupe’s new lower fascia. The 86 is a more rounded and streamlined version of the Subaru BRZ.
The two vehicles are mechanically identical to the BRZ and first-gen 86. The Subaru model’s new flat-four engine is 2.4-liters. Toyota cannot claim the bore or stroke as the source of its name. It produces 228 horsepower (170kilowatts) as well as 184 pound-feet (249newton-meters). You can choose from a 6-speed manual or 6-speed automatic transmission.
MacPherson struts are used in the front, and double wishbones at the rear. To increase the overall rigidity of the chassis and subframe mounts, reinforcements were applied to them.
The Subaru BRZ is expected to weigh in at 2,815 pounds. This is 17 more than the previous estimate. For the Toyota, it should be identical.
This fall, the new BRZ will go on sale. The 86 will likely arrive at the same time as the BRZ, since they both come from the same manufacturer. It is possible that the unveiling will take place before then, so expect a premier in the next few months.
