Multiple sources suggest that the rear-wheel-drive sports car will come with a 3.5-liter engine V6 and the Lexus GS450h’s 2GR-VSE 3.5–liter V6. This will be paired with Toyota’s Crown hybrid system.
Fans were angry when the Supra was removed from the Toyota lineup in 2003. However, they believed that a revival was possible. The hope faded over the years until Toyota unveiled the FTHS Concept at 2007 North American International Auto Show.
Fans are still waiting two and a half decades later. The wait might soon end as Toyota reports that it is planning to launch a Supra revival.
Although details are scarce, there are rumors that the rear-wheel-drive sports car will come with a 3.5-liter engine and the Lexus GS450h’s 2GR-VSE 3.5 liter V6. This will be paired with Toyota’s Crown hybrid system. The current 3.5-liter V6 produces only 268 horsepower and 248 lbft of torque. However, the Crown’s hybrid system may allow the Lexus V6 to produce over 400 hp.
A concept could be shown at the Tokyo Motor Show this year, but it is not expected that the production model will be revealed until next year.
