Turkey’s new supercar promises strong power and lighter weight. What will it cost? See the photos and details.
The new prototype of a mid-engined sports car from Turkey promises massive power and light weight. Dr. Ekber Onuk created the supercar in honor of his son Kaan “Sazan”, an engineer student, who died in a car accident in 1996.
The Onuk Sazan is a rear-wheel drive car that will only be made five times annually. A prototype of the Corvette LS7 engine, which produces 512 horsepower and 635 Nm of torque, has been constructed. The engine is coupled to a 5-speed manual transmission. The vehicle’s top speed is 300 km/h (186 MPH).
The engineers could use Nissan’s 3.5-liter V6 Q34DE turbocharged V6 engine, which produces 485 horsepower and 588 Nm of torque. It is mated with a six speed XTRAC 6012 transmission. The car’s dry weight has been reduced to 1,000 kg by the carbon fibre chassis. Dr. Onuk however claims that it could weigh as low as 920 kg.
Yonca ONUK, Dr. Onuk’s high-speed boat-producing company Yonca ONUK will build the street-legal vehicle. The Onuk Sazan will be available for purchase at EUR200,000
