Different fuel needs, same stylish coupe underneath.
Nissan has unveiled the Z race car design for the Fuji 24-Hour Race. It will take place on June 4, and 5, 2022. Instead of showing just one race car concept, the Japanese marque shows two versions.
The Nissan Z race car concepts were announced in April. They are being built using the experience gained from years of Super GT and customer-racing vehicle development. Nismo will also make use of the data accumulated from the 24-hour endurance race. This will help to further develop the cars.
The Nissan Z racing car concepts are 230 and 244. The Nismo team supports race car 230 and it is equipped with a compatible carbon-neutral fuel (CNF). Max Racing Team entered car 244, which is powered by a gasoline engine. Car 230 is vital as Nismo will use what it has learned about the CNF-compatible powertrain to help with future development.
This aligns with Nissan’s goal of carbon neutrality by fiscal year 2050. CNF-compatible engines are being developed to support carbon-neutral motorsports.
Notable: Nissan is the only Japanese manufacturer to participate in the all-electric ABB FIA Formula E World Championship.
“We are the only Japanese manufacturer to participate in the Formula E World Championship, and we are challenging the norms.” Ashwani Gupta (Nissan’s chief operating officer) said that the participation of the Nissan Z Racing Concept cars will provide valuable lessons to help develop engines compatible with carbon neutral fuel.
