FCA’s Uconnect 5 update promises the most advanced Uconnect system. The Android-powered, award-winning system, which integrates car radio and settings into one infotainment system is now available for all FCA brands, including Chrysler, Dodge Jeep, Ram and Maserati.

Uconnect 5’s major update is the User Experience (UX). The Uconnect 5 has a faster processor speed which promises better UX, improved design, and the ability to customize. The Uconnect 5’s new operating speed is five times faster than the previous generation thanks to an upgraded 50K MIP Chip, 6GB RAM and 64GB flash memory.

The system can store up five user profiles, as well as valet mode. It also allows quick access to commonly used applications.

Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity are also introduced in the Uconnect 5. This feature is available for vehicles equipped with wireless charging. FCA promises that all FCA vehicles in North America will have both smartphone connectivity.

Apart from Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, Alexa’s new Home-to Car function will now include an in-car Alexa virtual assistant and Car-toHome features. Uconnect 5 allows for two Bluetooth connections, which gives you more flexibility. The Uconnect 5 also features improved voice recognition, which allows for more practical uses such as navigation (finding an electric vehicle charging station), radio controls and even temperature control.

The Uconnect 5’s navigation system features TomTom’s traffic, EV and other connected services. It can also be used offline. Future-proof with provision for FCA’s plans to add 30 nameplates with electrified engines by 2022, the Uconnect 5 is also future-proof. It should also include Dynamic Range Mapping, and suggestions for charging stations.

The Uconnect 5 has Firmware over the Air (FOTA), which allows for easy updates. You can do this via 4G LTE which has been upgraded for faster operation and 5G functionality. Up to eight cars can be served simultaneously by the in-car Wi Fi hotspot.

The new Uconnect 5 system, which measures 12.3 inches in size, has the largest screen area of any FCA product. It supports up to 15,000,000 pixels in Ultra HD. The updated Uconnect 5 will be available worldwide to FCA vehicle owners in over 150 countries.
