One easy step to become an off-road pro.
These are not photos of an actual off-road truck. Instead, they show the Unlimited Desert Racer, which is the company’s new vehicle. It features a four-link solid axle rear chassis design with enormous suspension travel and authentic driving dynamics. This chassis accurately replicates “a true unlimited race chassis in form and function”.
It is amazing how much attention was paid to detail. The R/C truck is constructed around a tube frame chassis and has a rugged tube cage. This cage is just like the Trophy Trucks and Unlimited Trick Trucks. The truck sits on a set scaled BF Goodrich offroad tires, with two functional spares in the pickup’s back. Tube cages are used as a base for a single-piece plastic body that conceals the 2,200-kV brushless motor, waterproof metal gear servo and ESC telemetry unit. It’s a Jimco’s Trophy Truck but it’s much more affordable.
The truck measures 27 inches in length and weighs 13.4 pounds (6.1 kilograms). It is 2.27 inches high. Through a direct drive, with torque-biasing center drive (and rear differential), power is channeled to the electric motor and all four wheels. There will be two versions of the model: a 4s that can reach speeds of over 30 mph (48 km/h) and a 6s that can reach speeds of 50 mph (80 km/h).
Traxxas has announced that the Unlimited Desert Races will go on sale in March at a starting price $799. You can view the R/C truck driving through the desert at full speed in this official promo video. Although the company warns against trying this at home, we’re so infatuated…
