This imaginative redesign is for the all-electric model.
There are many crossovers in the new wave of electric vehicles. These crossovers are already very popular and can accommodate bulky battery packs for an all-electric powertrain. As technology improves, automakers will offer more EV options. This should include more sporty-looking models. A new rendering by X-Tomi Design shows what a three-door Hyundai EV6 crossover could look like if it was made into a hatch.
The front doors are where the bulk of the crossover’s changes are made. Rear doors are now shorter and the C and D columns are blended more, eliminating the window between the rear doors. The EV’s overall size doesn’t change, but it still looks large and crossover-like. To win style awards, a sporty two- or triple-door Kia will require more than shortened doors.
The EV6’s shorter dimensions are hindered by its front-end design. The crossover’s bulbous face is due to the sloping, clamshell-styled hood that places a lot of weight at the front. Although the ride height is shorter, the rear-end design works well with the shorter model. However, the face will need major redesign if Kia decides to reduce the model.
Although Kia has not yet revealed what the EV6 will look like, there are rumors about a city-electric vehicle being developed and launched in 2023. The EV9 was also teased by Kia late last year with a large, boxy concept. The production EV9 will be a sight to see, judging by the Kia EV6 Concept and EV9 Concept.
The EV6 can be purchased in the US with either a 58.0 or 77.4-kilowatt hour battery. It has an estimated range from 232 miles (373 km) to 310 mi (499 km). The larger battery pack is required for all-wheel drive. Although the AWD EV6 produces 320 horsepower (239 Kilowatts), it limits the range to 274 mi (441 km).
In late 2022 , the EV6GT will be available in the USA. The dual-motor motor setup makes 576 horsepower (430). It can reach 60 mph (96 km/h) in 3.5 seconds. These stats are impressive enough to justify a three-door hot hatch.
