The model’s unveiling is set for December 9, but we don’t need to wait. These photos from South Korea show the exterior design of the car and the “EQ900”, lettering, as it will be called locally. The new Hyundai Genesis brand will sell the flagship Hyundai Genesis model with the “G90”, which will effectively replace the Equus.
The G90, which was previewed in a few teasers earlier this month is a full-size sedan. It will be competing for sales in the highly-competitive luxury segment. The G90 will be slightly more expensive than the predecessor, but that is not surprising given its new status as a premium model.
Customers will have the option of a 3.8-liter V6-GDI with 334 PS (246kW), a new twin-turbo 3.3-liter with 370 PS (272kW), and a 5.0 liter V8 with 425 PS (313kW). These motors will be coupled with an eight-speed automatic transmission that sends power to the rear wheels. However, an optional AWD system may also be available.
Genesis describes the exterior as “elegantly designed”, and it will be paired with an interior that is “technology packed”. It features a more luxurious fit and finish than you would find in a large premium sedan.
The G90 / EQ900 will be available at home in South Korea next month, before reaching international markets in 2016.
