Shelby American’s Mustang-based Super Snake has a new look for 2018. This gives the muscle car a more powerful appearance. Customers can now specify the machine with up to 800 horsepower (597kilowatts) and 50 hp (37.5 kW) more , than the previous range-topper.

Ford’s 5.0-liter V8 engine provides the power, and a supercharger increases the output to 710 horsepower (529 kW) for the standard trim. The company claims that the coupe can travel 60 mph (96 km/h) in 3.5 seconds using the 800-hp tune. Shelby has added a new radiator and heat exchanger to ensure the reliability of this engine. Brembo brakes are equipped with six-piston calipers in the front and four-piston units at the rear.

The 2018 Super Snake has a new front fascia, which includes a section with Shelby branding at its bottom. The lower section is more complicated and includes multiple ducts that direct cool air to the engine and brakes. The back features a modified diffuser, updated side sills and wing. The cars are fitted with 20-inch forged wheels in either a bright metallic or black finish.

The price of the new Super Snake is $113,445 and includes the Mustang donor car. Buyers can also choose from painted stripes, wide body kits, track suspension and car covers.

Ford’s own supercharged Mustang is reportedly on the way, with the new GT500. The Mustang will pack 750 horsepower (559 kW) and be available with either a dual clutch automatic or manual gearbox. This setup could allow drivers to reach 200 miles an hour on a track or drag strip.
