Two prototypes and stock in The New Vector Motors Corporation will be yours for $3.5 million
With the 1978 launch of the W2 supercar, Vector made a name itself. The W2 supercar concept was a stunning car with a top speed of 230 mph (370 km/h). The W8 was launched ten years later. Only 17 of them made it to the public. One even starred in the 1993 movie Rising Sun.
Vector was already making a name for himself on the silver screen. But in the same year, the Geneva Motor Show saw the debut of the WX3 prototype. The vehicle was never produced. Two Vector supercars are now up for sale – a coupe as well as a convertible – to help fund a new Vector brand.
Both cars are listed on Dupont Registry. Each car was brand new and cost $850,000. Now they are $3.5 million for a pair. The twin-turbo V8 that powers both cars is reportedly capable of producing 1,000 horsepower (745kW). These were the first cars to feature sequential shifting transmissions and twin-turbocharged engines.
They were originally both silver-painted, but they now have unique paint jobs that match Gerald Wiegert’s Aquajet Jet-ski company. The coupe is finished in a 90s-inspired teal-blue Aquamarine, while The roadster has a deep purple Amethyst color.
The proceeds from the sale of these cars will be used to produce a new WX8 hypercar under the Vector brand. The buyer will be offered stock in The New Vector Motors Corporation and a 12-month or 24-month buyback agreement. The WX8 is claimed to produce 2,000 horsepower (1,491kW) and can reach speeds of 275 mph (442kmh) on the roads.
