An Autobahn run is also possible with the one-off, lightweight M2.

In 2020, a BMW fan decided, even if the automaker was not building an M2 CLSL, that he would make one. He did this with the help of some men, including BMW’s design department.

Thus, the unofficial BMW M2 CSL was born also known as the Turbmeister. YouTuber Joe Achilles got a chance to get a closer look at the unique M2. Marc Rutten, the owner of the car, explained every aspect of it and dissected every detail.

Rutten explains every weight saving made on the Turbomeister. It is about 242 pounds (110 kg) lighter than the M2 CS. The M2 CSL is now almost as light as the BMW E46 HTML3 CSL.

Rutten also discusses the work of Topaz Detailing in the UK that was responsible for the unique appearance of the Turbomeister. The British company used a mixture of paint and foil techniques, inspired by the BMW 2002 Hommage design. BMW helped in this regard by letting Rutten measure and copy the concept in real-life.

The Turbomeister’s modified 3.0-liter twin-turbo S55 motor under the hood is the cherry on top. This makes it a lot more powerful and efficient than an M2. Beek Auto Racing and Akrapovic upgraded the powertrain and exhaust systems. It has 520 horsepower (388 Kilowatts) as well as 487 pound-feet (666 Newton-meters). The suspension was also upgraded by AST Suspension.

Achilles had a run at the German Autobahn with the lightweight M2 CSL Turbomeister. Make sure you watch the video above to see that.
