Every man and his dog have been to the Nurburgring… but it’s not like this.

Everyone is now racing the Nurburgring and trying to beat their competitors by one hundredth of a second.

Ford Performance is one such brand that works on the ‘Ring to develop its products, but this time it wasn’t all about lap times.

Vaughn Gittin Jr., a factory driver, took to the 12.93-mile track with his 900-horsepower Ford Mustang and became the first and only person to drift the entire course. The Driftking of the Ring demonstrates the feat. It was achieved after an unsuccessful attempt last fall. Although the previous attempt was thwarted by bad weather, this time the drift lap went without a hitch.

Gittin Jr. stated that “I was outside of my comfort zone for most of the hot laps.” “I didn’t know Green Hell as well as I thought. Everything changes when you go sideways at these speeds. I was thrilled when we stopped to change the tires. Since I was a rookie driver in Formula Drift, I had to take a deep breath and I felt elated.

“Tire change,” that’s right. Gittin Jr. did not complete the lap on one set of tires. Are you still surprised? As it is well-known, the Green Hell is tough on tires when there is smoke coming off the rear tires.

Gittin Jr.’s previous attempt was canceled, so he rode to the German Grand Prix track in his brand-new Ford F-150 Raptor. However, he and Ford had always promised to return in their drift car to make a proper attempt at sliding down the ‘Ring.

Gittin Jr. stated that “The Nordschleife” is one of the most famous tracks in the world. He also said that the legend of the Green Hell at the Nurburgring has made him fall in love with it. “I finally visited it in person in 2013, and that was when I made the promise to myself that I would one day drift it in its entirety.”

He said, “Driving the Nurburgring is the ultimate challenge for me: It is something that many people questioned whether it was possible and whether the driver and car could make it work and get out alive.” “Something within me had to do this to find out. I wasn’t there to have a lap, but I was there to have a good time.”
