Martin Winterkorn, CEO Volkswagen, announced today at NAIAS that the CrossBlue concept will be in production in 2016.
CrossBlue was presented at last year’s NAIAS. Now we know from Volkswagen that the vehicle will enter production in 2016. Company insiders claim it will retain most of its design. It will be seven-seat and ride on VW’s MQB platform. Expect a variety of engines, including four-cylinder diesels in the United States.
The vehicle’s engineering is underway. A plug-in hybrid system, which was expected to arrive in the Golf this year, could also be available in certain markets. Skoda’s 2016 SUV will likely be based on the seven seat Volkswagen SUV. This will likely get a new moniker than the concept that was presented with a coupe-like profile.
