This is a close-to-production version the 2018 ID. Vizzion.
A evolution of the ID. Vizzion from 2018 The new ID. Aero is still being considered a concept car. It is now being shown in a closer-to production guise, with a remarkablely low drag coefficient (0.03). The electric sedan’s sleek body will allow it to cover 385 miles (620 km) using the WLTP cycle in Europe. We expect the EPA figure will be lower in North America.
VW is very quiet about technical specifications. They only say the ID. Aero measures nearly five meters (16 ft) in length and is ridden on 22-inch wheels. The electric sedan will be riding on the MEB platform, and it will serve as the flagship ID. It is positioned above the ID.3, I.4, and ID.5 as well as the China-only HTML.6. It could be given the ID.7 moniker due to its high-range status. However, nothing is yet official.
VW will be selling the ID. Aero is available in two flavors in the country with the highest population: one from FAWVW and one from SAICVW. Similar strategies have been used by the company for other ID. It has two joint ventures in China that sell models. China will receive the new EV in the second half next year. North America and Europe will follow.
We should not forget that VW also introduced a wagon version to the original concept. The ID. Space Vizzion, a long-roof EV, was unveiled in late 2019, to show a practical alternative to the midsize car. It’s not clear if the estate will be a production model, but it is possible that the model will still be available for those who want the extra versatility and don’t necessarily need an SUV.
The VW Aero B/ID.7 will no longer be the largest MEB-based electric car, especially when you consider that an Atlas-sized SUV called ID.8 SUV was unveiled nearly one year ago.
