Amazingly, no one was hurt in the shock blast.
It’s hard to believe that nobody was hurt when you see this video of the explosion of a Volkswagen. Every explosion is powerful – that’s kind of the point – but this one seems particularly violent. It could be that there isn’t a fireball in this particular incident. Two people stood right next to the car and there was no injury.
It occurred in northeast Brazil’s Fortaleza on March 16. A report by Metroes states that the incident occurred at a gas station where a natural gas tank inside the car exploded. We mean cata-strophic. The incident was captured by security camera footage, which is embedded at the top. It shows two men standing in front a third-generation Volkswagen Voyage sedan while the hood is open. The car’s back was gone in a split second.
The VW may have had an illegal conversion to compressed natural gas. According to The Daily Mail, the car was being refueled using natural gas at the time it exploded. After the explosion, a stream of fuel can be seen at the rear of car. This fuel disappears once the pump is turned off. According to the report, the vehicle owner installed a CNG tank with irregular dimensions and did not have a safety inspection. Workers apparently failed to verify that the station had received proper seals and certificates.
An investigation is ongoing as the tank or any remnants of it was not found. According to reports, it landed 200 feet from a wall and damaged another car as it returned to the earth. It was found by firefighters a few hours later.
Poor Volkswagen: It appears that this Voyage’s voyage has ended.
