Volkswagen’s New Police “Riot” Van Conversion Revealed

During ongoing climate change protests held in London, the timing of this is perfect.

Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles unveiled a U.K. riot van conversion to its Crafter van.

The vehicle will be unveiled at The Commercial Vehicle Show 2019.

The tougher windscreen made of Kasiglas, also eliminates the need to place metal bars on the windscreen. This reduces weight and improves visibility.

The conversion was performed by Volkswagen commercial vehicles’ Accredited Blue Light Partner Coleman Milne Specialist Vehicles, Wigan. It uses the five-ton, long wheelbase Volkswagen Crafter with Trendline trim as its base vehicle. Power comes from Volkswagen’s 2.0-liter 175-horsepower diesel engine.

Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles will have the Volkswagen Crafter PSU on display at the CV Show 2019. The show takes place at Birmingham NEC, April 30 through May 2. The PSU will be available for trial and loan to all police forces in the country.
