Volvo Concept Recharge Preparing A ‘Less but Better’ Future EV Future

Volvo describes the concept as a manifesto to its pure electric ambitions.

Volvo’s electric ambitions are rooted in vehicles that combine pure electric and internal combustion power. Although it makes financial sense to create a platform that can accommodate both powertrains, it doesn’t fully take advantage of the EV system’s many benefits. Volvo demonstrates its vision of a future in motoring with its Concept Recharge.

Volvo considers this concept a major deal. In fact, Volvo calls it a “manifesto of Volvo Cars’ pure electric tomorrow.” Concept Recharge is not just a fancy concept. It previews the brand’s new design language, dubbed You get more for your money Symbolizing all that a pure EV does not need, such as a grille or raised floor to accommodate driveshafts and exhaust systems. Robin Page, chief of design, stated that Concept Recharge is a manifesto for Volvo Cars’ all-electric future. It displays modern proportions and demonstrates the potential of technology to improve design.

The concept has a flat floor and an extended wheelbase. This allows for more interior space and less overhang. These aren’t new ideas in the EV industry, but Volvo embraces minimalism with its Recharge Concept interior. It features a 15-inch central display and a small digital indicator screen that provide all the interface requirements for its occupants.

Page stated that the Concept Recharge creates a Scandinavian-inspired living space. The interior combines our most recent user experience technology with beautiful, sustainable and natural materials. Each piece of the interior can be used as a piece of artwork or in combination with other furniture to create a unique space. The latest technology is not used for its own sake. We are always focused on the potential benefits that technology can provide.

The Recharge Concept retains its distinctive look despite the new design. A shield with Volvo’s familiar logo is now the grille. It features a modern interpretation at the corners of the company’s Thor’s Hammer-shaped headlight shape. Volvo maintains an SUV-like ride height, and drivers have a higher vantage point. The hood slopes lower for aerodynamics. While we are referring to SUVs such as the XC60 or XC90, we also see all types of Volvo wagon DNA within its form.
Volvo has not provided any information about the performance or range of this new concept. Its purpose is not to show the company’s pure electric future from the standpoint of design. Page explained that the Concept Recharge continues Volvo’s rich design heritage in a modern, fresh way as we transition into an all-electric future. It is everything that we expect customers to see in a pure electric Volvo, and we are excited to incorporate this philosophy into the next generation of our cars.
