Volvo is announcing that it has received almost 80,000 orders for its smallest crossover. Volvo cannot help but increase production of the XC40 in order to meet strong customer demand. The Geely-owned marque says it will increase production at Ghent, Belgium and the Luqiao factory in China in the first half 2019.

Because the S60 , V60 and outgoing models are leaving the assembly lines, it will be possible to free up production space for the XC40 at Ghent’s XC40 facility. The next-generation sedan, which will be unveiled this summer, is expected to be the first Volvo car without a diesel engine. It will also be produced at the new U.S. facility. The new wagon will be made at the Torslanda, Sweden plant, while some of the production output of the next-gen will remain in Ghent.
