Volvo XC40 updated for 2023 as company electrifies entire line-up

Volvo will not offer fully electric, mild hybrids, or plug-ins.

Volvo today announced that it will electrify all of its US-based lineups for the model year 2023. Not all models are going to be fully electric yet. Each Volvo model will have some type of electrification. This could be mild hybrids, plug-ins or full EVs. Volvo will also be updating its XC40 crossover. This change will allow the Volvo XC90 and C60 Cross Country to now have mild-hybrid engine options. This is a first step towards the company’s promise to become a fully-electric vehicle brand by 2030. Customers now have a choice of electrified options that are tailored to their charging and lifestyles.

Volvo has updated the XC40 with a new frameless grille and front bumper. This aligns the design of the XC40 Hybrid with the new all-electric XC40Recharge. Volvo has also given the Thor’s Hammer headlight signature an updated shape. The 2023 XC40 will feature premium leather-free upholstery options. Customers can choose from new exterior colors and wheels. Volvo will also offer its integrated Google assistant to the XC40, as well as the whole 2023 Volvo range. Volvo will be able to provide over-the-air updates for its vehicles which could lead to improved features and services for customers once they have purchased the vehicle.

A variety of styling changes are also included in the 2023 update for several models. New colors, wheels, interior options, and other updates are all part of the 2023 update. The S60 and V60 have a new front grille and revised rear bumper inserts. Volvo will also eliminate trim lines to allow customers to mix and match the interior design, upholstery, or equipment levels they choose. Volvo claims that the 2023 range is now in production. The new products, which include the updated XC40, will be available to American dealers this summer. The updated Volvo product portfolio clearly demonstrates Volvo’s commitment to electrification and gives customers the option of choosing the vehicle that suits them best.
