This summer, the XC60 Polestar Engineered and V60 Polestar Engineered models will go on sale.
Polestar is a standalone brand that works hard on plug-ins, EVs, and products like the 1, 2, 3. The parent company Volvo still has the performance arm, which lends its engineering expertise. Their latest products are the Volvo Polestar Engineered XC60 SUV/V60 wagon and the gussied up S60 that they have just purchased.
The S60 Polestar Engineered is a good example of this. XC60 and V60 The same T8 Twin Engine plug-in hybrid powertrain produces a powerful 415 horsepower (309 Kilowatts) as well as 494 poundfeet (669 Newton meters) of torque. This is an increase of 15 horsepower (11 kW), and 25 lbft (33 Nm), over the standard T8. The standard T8-powered XC60/V60 could reach 60 miles an hour (96 km per hour) in under five seconds. The Polestar Engineered models should go faster.
Most exterior upgrades will be hard to see, but you’ll need to look closely. The S60 Polestar Engineered’s dazzling 10-spoke wheels, black chrome exhaust tips and high-gloss Black grille, wheel arch extensions and stylish Polestar badges both front and rear, all still apply. The cabin is the same; upgrades such as the charcoal color scheme and gold seatbelts add a little bit of flavor but aren’t over-the-top.
“The new Polestar Engineered trim for the S60 was sold out online in less than an hour,” stated Anders Gustafsson. “Polestar Engineered modifications of the XC60/V60 add performance to an already powerful and responsive vehicle.”
We don’t yet know the price of the V60 and XC60 Polestar Engineered models. The XC60T8’s $53,700 asking cost makes it seem reasonable that the Polestar-touched models will have a $60,000 MSRP. These models are not limited to 20 cars, as the S60 was. Volvo (via Roadshow) claims that the company will sell “considerably” more versions of the XC60/V60 Polestar Engineered models, than the limited S60. This will be via traditional sales channels and not only the subscription service.
