Don’t rush to the dealer – this is a once-in-a-lifetime deal.

Arctic Trucks, a well-known off-road modification company, has produced a unique “Icelandic-spec” version of the Volkswagen Amarok pickup truck.

After preparing a Toyota Hilux for a Top Gear expedition at the Magnetic North Pole in HTML1, the company became famous. It has also applied its knowledge to many UK-market pick ups.

The company launched the Isuzu Arctic Trucks AT35 in 2016. Since then, it has created enhanced versions of the Ni Navara as well as the Toyota Hilux.

The Icelandic company has now tuned a Volkswagen Amarok to be used as a support vehicle during Arctic winter driving experiences.

As you would expect, upgrades are numerous. New wheel arches were installed to accommodate 17-inch alloy wheels and the massive all-terrain tires. The suspension has been raised 25mm (1 inch) at the front and back. To protect the car against flying stones from Icelandic tracks, oversized mud flaps were also fitted.

The car also includes a portable generator, a portable fire extinguisher and, unsurprisingly, a cappuccino maker. The car also includes a VHF radio, toolbox and jack. In case of an emergency while out exploring the wilderness, there is also a first aid kit that comes with a defibrillator.

The same 3-liter V6 diesel engine that powers the standard Amarok is under the hood. It produces 221 horsepower and helps the Arctic Trucks Amarok climb the same 45 degrees as the standard Amarok. The payload is 1,154 kg (2,544 lbs). It also comes with Hill Descent Assist, which stops the vehicle running off when it descends the Icelandic hills.

Nick Axtell is the specialist sales manager for Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles. He said that the Arctic Trucks Amarok had been performing well in some of most difficult situations a vehicle could face.

He stated that the Volkswagen Amarok was a huge hit since its inception and that it is now proving its worth in some the most difficult conditions around the globe. British drivers will find the standard Amarok capable of handling all winter’s challenges.

“Back in the UK the unique selling point of our van centers is their ability to convert vehicles through recognized partners. We are committed to working with all of you, no matter what the task is – whether it’s fitting racking for plumbers or refrigerators for supermarket chains or something more extreme like AT35.
