It shares a platform and the new Ford Ranger.
Since the beginning, we knew that the new Ford Ranger would be paired with the VW Amarok. Two years ago, the automakers signed a partnership agreement that allowed them to work together on a variety of next-generation products and sharing technologies. Although the global Ford Ranger was introduced late last year, Volkswagen has yet not to introduce the new Amarok. However, spy shots indicate that development is taking place on the model.
Camouflage is all over the truck, making it difficult to see how it will differ from the Ranger. Although there are many options for designing pickups, the Amarok has some unique features that camouflage cannot hide.
It is unique. The fog lights are positioned higher by VW on Amarok’s face. Also, the grille does not seem to extend beyond the headlight units. The Ranger’s hood shape is also visible. There is a distinct hood line.
The Amarok will be larger and more powerful than the model it replaces thanks to its move to the Ranger platform. It will be powered by a 3.0-liter turbodiesel V6 from VW. This engine should produce 255 horsepower (190 Kilowatts) as well as 428 pound-feet (580 Newton meters) of torque. The transmission that will be paired with the engine is not yet known. Other powertrains are possible, but VW won’t likely offer them in the US. A turbodiesel may be the only option.
In the next few months, the second-generation VW Amarok will be available. The Amarok R variant could be even more popular than the Ranger Raptor. However, we do know that VW is currently considering the model. Although the VW Amarok is not a distinct model, it could have been killed off by Ford’s partnership.
