VW Arteon R to Get 400+ HP from Turbo VR6 Engine

Official from the company says, “You can beat all Porsche Panameras out your way!”

Volkswagen has made it clear that it wants to expand its R portfolio. What better way to do this than by giving the range-topping model high-powered treatment? The Arteon, which is being billed as the company’s flagship model in Europe, will get a 3.0-liter VR6 engine. Turbocharged is the key word. This will give the six-cylinder engine a healthy 404 horsepower. This is a significant upgrade to the 276 horsepower provided by the current most powerful Arteon.

The new Arteon R model will be fully-fledged and have 4Motion all wheel drive. Details about the availability of a manual transmission are not yet available. However, we wouldn’t be too optimistic.

Martin Hube, the official VW spokesperson for the product line, revealed the details about the in-progress turbocharged V6 engine. He spoke to Car Throttle about the Polo GTI’s launch and said that drivers would be able “provoke some oversteer”, adding that the Arteon R will be “able to beat all the Porsche Panameras out your way!”

The six-cylinder Arteon is something we’ve known about for a while. It’s a car that will be interesting, just like the Kia Stinger GT. An shooting brake version has also been considered. However, it is too early to know if it has been approved.
