China could soon have the wagon.
Spy shots show that the Volkswagen Arteon station wagon is and on its way to China, possibly to other regions. To give you an idea of the potential long-roof model, Kolesa has a new rendering.
The front is identical to the Arteon’s existing Arteon. However, the changes begin at the B-pillar. Kolesa’s rendering gives wagon a downward-sloping roof which keeps it from looking too boxy. The shape is given a subtle, shiny chrome look by the roof rails. The car’s rear end has a sporty appearance thanks to the roof-mounted spoiler as well as the second, smaller spoiler at the deck’s edge below the rear windows. This rendering is very similar to the images leaked from the Chinese model (below).
VW claims that it plans to start building a new long roof model at its Emden factory, Germany, in the latter part of 2021. Although the company has not yet identified the vehicle, speculation suggests that it is the Arteon wagon.
Volkswagen is also working on a new turbocharged 3.0-liter VR6 engine. It would produce 404 horsepower (301kilowatts). The engine would be exclusive to the Arteon R, and only available with all-wheel drive. It is not yet clear if this powerful powertrain will be offered in the sedan or the wagon.
The Arteon wagon will not be sold in the United States. The Audi HTML6 Avant, A6 Allroad will be brought to America by Audi. However, it is possible that the VW long-roof version of the VW might go on sale.
