Worthersee will kick off today so you can be sure there will be many more VAG models unveiled between now and the weekend. We’re still waiting for Volkswagen to reveal the road-going Golf GTITCR. Oettinger, a German tuning company that specializes in upgrading Volkswagens is there with their own vision of a tough Golf GTI.

The GTI version of the VW Golf R500 was unveiled at Worthersee three years ago. It is now being developed by the same people who created the VW Golf R500 . The engine was developed in just four months. They managed to increase the output of the turbocharged 2.0 liter to 355 horsepower (347 pound-feet) (470 Newton-meters). This makes it more powerful than the Golf GTI Clubsport, which was once the fastest FWD production car on the Nurburgring.

Oettinger’s tiny monster packs an extra 49 horsepower and 66 lb (90 Nm), over the Clubsport S. It is also significantly faster in the sprint to the speed of 62 mph (100 km/h). The task is completed in just over five seconds, while the most beefy factory GTI takes 5.8 seconds. The Clubsport S’s stock speed of 162 mph (261 km/h) has been increased to 170 mph (274 km/h). Side note: This is even faster than the previously mentioned 164-mph Golf GTI TCR roadcar. More details will be available soon.

Oettinger is not only fiddling with the 2.0 TSI but also created an aggressive body kit to match that extra power coming from under the vented roof. The new body is 80 millimeters (3.15 in) wider than the standard Golf GTI. It includes everything, from a prominent front splitter to large rear wings and a menacing diffuser. The car’s Need for Speed vibe is further enhanced by the two large exhaust finishes.

A set of custom alloys is a must for any tuning project. This 20-inch wheel set comes in white with 275/25 R20 tires. For those who want to upgrade their Golfs, there is an adjustable suspension as well as other niceties. Oettinger sells these items not only for the GTI but also for all-wheel drive R. You can also order a complete car.
