Quantum Group is looking to buy more than the Lamborghini brand. The deal would cover the purchase of the entire Sant’Agata facility, Italy, as well as the motorsport operations. A five-year supplier agreement would be made with Audi. This would likely allow Lambo to continue producing the existing models and to prepare new models. According to a document obtained Autocar, Quantum hopes to make the brand “a leader in innovation” by continually implementing clean drivetrain technologies.
Quantum wants to be able to share the technology of electric vehicles with Audi. The group of investors proposes to open an Advanced Automotive Innovation Centre (Germany) for the development of batteries.
Rumours have circulated for years that VW Group might sell Lamborghini. In late 2020, however, the automaker’s supervisory board decided not to sell Lambo and Bentley. The company was conducting an internal review to to determine if there were enough resources to develop EVs, autonomous technology and to invest in premium marques. Herbert Diess, chief executive of VW Group, stated that brands must be evaluated against new requirements.
