Volkswagen unveiled the Polo WRC Street concept car at the 31st GTI Meeting in Worthersee, Austria. The Polo R WRC road-going prototype was also presented.
The Polo WRC Street Concept is a preview of a small-series production vehicle that will be released in the second half 2013. It has a spoiler, diffuser, sports suspension, and WRC logos. A 2.0-liter TSI produces 220 HP (162 kW / 217.5 hp). We will provide more information at a later time.
The Polo R WRC, a new design from Volkswagen Motorsport, was also revealed during the week-long festival for Volkswagen enthusiasts. It is a road-going prototype of the FIA World Rally Championship. It is described by Dr. Ulrich Hackenberg, Volkswagen Head of Development, as the “hottest Polo” and features a racing version 1.6-liter TSI engine that produces approximately 300 HP (220 kW / 296, bhp). This tarmac-prepared racer can accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in just 4.1 seconds.
