According to the report the main reason for the fault is small movements of wire harness from terminal A to the front door. This can cause damage to wire terminal surface. Corrosion can cause damage to the surface and can lead to interruptions in the electrical connections to the components at the front door.

Airbag warning lights may be illuminated on affected vehicles. However, extreme cases can result in unexpected rolling down of windows and park brake activation at low speeds. Warnings about faulty door sensors could also be issued.

According to the recall report, the recall covers 113,899 units 2021-2023 VW Atlas FL made between October 4, 2019 and February 10, 2022. The recall also covers 32,720 units from 2019-2020 VW Atlas, manufactured between August 1, 2019 and March 6, 2020.
