The Emden plant will manufacture the wagon in Germany.
Since the end 2016, rumors of an Arteon Shooting Brake were circulating on the Internet. Now Volkswagen may have confirmed that the model exists. VW speaks out in German about plans to retool Emden’s factory and make it ready for the MEB electric vehicles that will be entering production at the end of 2021. The assembly of the Passat Sedan and Variant, Passat Alltrack and the Arteon will continue.
The factory buildings to the west will be expanded, while others will remain the same. VW will announce the Passat versions and the more modern Arteon. And the mysterious shooting brake, which will be constructed in the halls that have been vacant for many years.
Everything About The Arteon
The VW Group announced plans to move production of its Passat family to Czech Republic at Skoda’s Kvasiny Factory, where the midsize model and the closely related Superb will be built starting in 2023. It was revealed in November last year, and it effectively announced the start of production on the next-gen Passat.
The current, updated Euro-spec Passat will continue to be built in Germany. It will also include the Arteon. This should lead to a more practical variant. We expect the rear doors to be available on the long-roof Arteon. This means it won’t likely be a true shooting brake. A previous report on the car mentioned a turbocharged six-cylinder gasoline engine. This would be more powerful than the four-banger with its 276 horsepower and 258 pounds-feet (350 Newton meters) of torque.
Motor1.com reached out to VW Germany for more information about the shooting brake. As soon as we receive back, we’ll update the post.
