New design, new underpinnings.
Our first spy photos of the next-generation Volkswagen Transporter date from the summer 2018. was when our photographers saw a T6-bodied mule. Our colleagues at Kolesa.ru captured a prototype test with a production body. This was used to base a realistic rendering. We got another look at the model thanks to a less camouflaged test vehicle.
Kolesa.ru made a second rendering of the T7. This time it looks like a press photo. Designers have taken into consideration the new visual details revealed by spy shots, such as the curving line that runs along the front fascia and is formed by bumper and fenders.
The lower portion of the front bumper will be slightly different from the previous rendering. The taillights at the back have a more Passat-inspired design. Although the bus seems a little smaller than its predecessor, this could just be an illusion.
The Transporter’s new design will be matched with the MQB platform. This will allow for the integration and operation of electrified powertrains as well as conventional gasoline or diesel engines. The T7 will be offered in standard and long-wheelbase formats, with the possibility of a fully electric version.
We believe that the latest spy shots show Volkswagen making rapid progress with the development and delivery of the new Transporter. The sales and delivery of the new Transporter should begin in the first quarter of next year.
