It will be available for purchase next year.

The Volkswagen Taos was officially launched in the United States earlier in the week. It is an indirect successor to the Golf. The crossover will be an important addition to VW’s product line and will also be available on some Latin American markets.

The gallery below shows the Taos for Brazil. The Brazilian version is slightly different from the North American model. There are some visual differences including a modified front bumper diffuser and a slightly reshaped bumper. But the most notable feature is the LED light strip that runs the length of the radiator grille.

However, the cabin appears to be identical between the Brazilian model and the US model. A 8.0-inch digital instrument cluster is available, as well as a variety of customization options. The seats are comfortable and well-designed. There’s also plenty of legroom for passengers in the rear. The multimedia system in the Brazilian Taos is slightly different from the North American VW system, with fewer options.

However, the biggest difference is when you look under the hood. The US-sped model has the 1.5-liter TSI engine, which is already available in several Volkswagen Group models across Europe. However, its Brazilian counterpart uses the older 1.4 TSI. The US model produces 158 horsepower and it generates 150 horsepower. The new Taos can only be purchased in Brazil with a six speed automatic transmission and front-wheel driving. Rumours of an AWD model with DSG gearbox are being circulated, but nothing has been confirmed.

For the North American market, the crossover will be built in Puebla (Mexico), while South American countries will receive it from the Volkswagen factory in Argentina. Both regions will see sales next year, with the United States being the first to receive it.
