VW Tiguan LWB was completely undiscovered [UPDATE]

It all is revealed by the extra-long Tiguan

Although a reader captured a camo-free prototype Tiguan LWB last month, VW decided that it would disguise the one that is ready for production. It looks very similar to the previous-generation Kia Sportage due to the stickers that were applied to the taillights and headlights. The vehicle’s true grille is partially covered by a fake Kia Tiger nose grille. Meanwhile, the stickers on the lower portion of the front and rear bumpers replicate the fog and reverse lights from the South Korean compact crossover.

It looks just like you’d imagine, a stretched version the European five seat Tiguan from whom it has borrowed MQB. It is obvious that the extended wheelbase and longer rear doors are clearly visible. This allows for more interior space with more legroom.

VW Tiguan LWB was completely undiscovered [UPDATE]

The seven-seat Tiguan, which will be made in Puebla (Mexico), will be powered with a variety of gasoline engines. It is expected that the 2.0 TSI will also be available. Given the TDI scandal, it’s not clear if Volkswagen America plans to sell the SUV equipped with a diesel engine. It will be front-wheel drive, regardless of the engine it uses. The more expensive models will get the 4MOTION all-wheel drive setup.

In the months ahead of the public debut at the Los Angeles Auto Show in November, an online reveal is planned. Production is expected to start in early next year, which should mean deliveries will begin in the spring.
