VW Viloran Spy Shots Reveal New MPV for China

It might also be available in Russia.

This isn’t something you see everyday on Motor1.com pages. These spy photos show a minivan specially designed for the Chinese market. We were tired of looking at the prototypes of future Mercedes Benz and BMW model, so we decided to share these spy photos. The Volkswagen Viloran is coming soon.

This is the nameplate that the German automaker intends to launch in China via the SAIC-VW joint venture. According to reports, the MPV will be based on the MQB platform. It should become the largest and most spacious Volkswagen vehicle on sale. These photos show that it will draw design inspiration from the current Touareg as well as visual elements from the SMV Concept.

VW Viloran Spy Shots Reveal New MPV for China

According to Chinese media reports, the Viloran has already been put on production lines. However, we have not seen any official photos or information. According to reports, the MQB-based people-hauler will be powered with a 2.0-liter TSI turbocharged gasoline motor that produces 220 horsepower (164 kilowatts), and 258 poundfeet (353 Newton-meters). This power is channeled to its front wheels via an eight-speed auto. The Viloran 380 TSIS will be the name of this model.

This rendering by Kolesa.ru shows a potential look for the seven-seat MPV. We believe that the Viloran may also be available in Russia, although this cannot be confirmed at this time. We are not aware of any plans by Volkswagen to launch the three-row minivan in North America or Europe. It already sells the Atlas model and the Multivan model.

According to reports, Volkswagen is expected to release the Viloran officially by the end of the year. The Viloran should be available in China and Russia within the next few weeks, with deliveries expected to begin early next year. Prices should start at around 333,000 Chinese Yuan. This is approximately $46,300.
