It seems to be based upon the Nissan Armada.
Dubai Police Force boasts one of the largest fleets of patrol cars in the world. Dubai Police has the ability to chase you down, no matter what speed you are going. There will soon be another member of the motor pool.
This police SUV, called the Ghiath Smart patrol, is made by W Motors, which also makes the Lykan Hypersport. The company claims that this model is the second-generation, since the first used the previous-generation Chevrolet Tahoe. The all-new Ghiath Smart Patrol appears to be a heavily modified and rebodied Nissan Armada. The Armada is the Nissan Patrol on markets outside North America.
What does the Ghiath Smart Patrol have to do with police duties? The SUV has a 360-degree deployable camera and eight exterior surveillance cameras. To make patrolling easier, the SUV has a facial recognition and license plate recognition system. It also includes a drone to add an additional pair of eyes. It has an integrated 16 inch screen inside that houses communications for both the main control center and the dispatcher.
The Ghiath police car has hints of the Armada/Patrol. The dashboard, steering wheel and off-road controls of the Ghiath are similar to those found in the Nissan SUV. It is a police vehicle with a custom-built rear bench and protective cage. There are also compartments in the cargo area that can be used for search and rescue equipment.
W Motors has not yet revealed what the Ghiath’s engine is. It appears to be a Nissan platform so it is likely that it has an Armada/Patrol engine. At least 400 horsepower (298kilowatts) is expected. The engine also has a torque figure in excess of 413 pound-feet (560 Newton meters). Standard is four-wheel drive.
If you’re planning to visit Dubai in the near future, the Ghiath will be roaming the streets of Dubai as it was just weeks ago. W Motors will soon offer the civilian version this patrol SUV. Although the company has not revealed any details about the non-police version of this patrol SUV, it does say that it will be available in the near future. It may have the same powertrain specs as the police package and more customization options.
