Even without the Sasquatch package or 35-inch tires, the Bronco can still go off-road.
This video is fascinating for another reason: the manual transmission. It’s a seven speed ‘box with crawler gear. There’s an ongoing petition for it to be made available across the range, even in combination with the offroad Sasquatch bundle. The 33-inch tires were used on all prototypes, which meant that they did not have the optional Sasquatch package. BFG AT tires were used on the Bronco 2-Door, while Goodyear MT tires were used for its practical sibling. It is unlikely that many of the 150,000+ people who are waiting to purchase a Bronco will go to the Rubicon Trail to test its off-road capabilities. It’s still comforting to know that Ford’s Wrangler competitor can tackle the most challenging terrains, when necessary.
This footage, taken in Northern California, shows Bronco’s offroad skills. It is yet another proof Ford is ready to take on Jeep. According to rumours, the Bronco revival may also include pursuing the Wrangler-based Gladiator using a pickup truck. This could be as soon as 2022.
