Watch Bugatti Chiron Do Quarter Mile In 9.9 Seconds

The Chiron, despite its power, is difficult to drag race.

The Bugatti Chiron This machine is extremely fast and can be accelerated at lightning speed. New video from Drag Times This indicates that it is not as simple as with other hypercars to extract all the performance potential.

The Chiron is lifted from a flatbed truck. Drag Times then do a quick testing of the launch control system. The driver attempts to use the launch control system on the strip, but it causes problems. The supercar crawls along the track and can’t reach speeds of 50 miles an hour (or 80 kilometers per hour).

The team decides to give it another go, this time without traction control or launch control. Results are only marginally better. During the second shift, the Chiron spins its wheel. The jolt from the wheels when they connect again is sufficient to knock the telemetry device out of the passenger seat and remove the dashboard mount. However, the hypercar manages to finish the quarter-mile in 11.09 seconds.

The third run is when things finally come together. This time the launch control works and the Chiron completes the quarter-mile in 9.9 seconds. The tires seem to be slipping slightly off the line.

Drag Times believes they can drag race the Chiron better once they are more familiar with the hypercar’s many driving modes and settings. A Dodge Challenger SRT Demon equipped with a set slick tires can complete the quarter-mile in 9.83 seconds. The Bugatti, which is far more powerful than the American muscle car, would be expected to win.
