Genesis has big plans for its European launch. Hyundai’s premium brand, Hyundai, will be selling luxury cars on the Old continent for the first time in five years, after it was launched in South Korea and the United States. You can’t compete with the best if you don’t act like them.

Excellent safety ratings are a major factor in convincing premium customers to switch brands. Euro NCAP’s most recent test cycle gave Genesis two models a five-star rating. The large sedan has a five-star rating. It is rated for both the 2.5-liter gasoline and 2.2-liter diesel engines. Safety organization says that the G80 scores full points for child occupant protection. It also gets five-star pedestrian protection due to its active hood.

The GV80 is slightly better at side impact protections, as it comes standard with head, chest and center airbags. It is still slightly less effective than its sedan counterpart for pedestrian protection, but it still receives a five-star rating by Euro NCAP.

The brand’s G80 and GV80 models will be the first to reach European showrooms, starting in the summer via the Genesis Studios in London and Munich. Genesis will launch the G70, GV70, and the newly unveiled G70 Shooting Brake, which are all alternatives to the premium wagons. The brand plans to also sell the electric G80 in Europe.
