This one was bound to make you hurt.
Track Days offer enthusiasts a great opportunity to get out their cars and open them up. High-performance driving comes with inherent risks. Recent Instagram footage from Supercar Failed shows what appears to be a Ferrari458 flipping into barriers after a corner accident.
The track in question is Circuito del Jarama located near Madrid, Spain. Although it isn’t as well-known as other Spanish tracks it hosted Formula 1 races from 1981 to 1981. The venue is a popular spot for motorbike racing due to its tight corners.
The car looks relatively normal as it passes the last corner and heads onto the main straightaway. The car isn’t slowing down as it enters the first corner. This is when things start to go wrong. Although it’s difficult to pinpoint the exact cause of the accident, we would guess that the brakes failed.
Thankfully, the driver was not able to hit any other cars in his series of unfortunate events. We were shocked to see such a small runoff area at such high speeds. This didn’t slow down the car much, judging by its looks. We are relieved to report that the Italian Supercar was a total write-off.
Brake problems are a very rare occurrence. However, they can happen to anyone. These kinds of accidents are particularly frightening because there isn’t much you can do behind the wheel. While downshifting and vigourously applying the brakes might save you, bracing for an impact is likely to be your only recourse.
