Is this the one that will make it to the U.S.?
There are several Mercedes-Benz models which are nearing the end of their current production cycles. The GLC is one of these models. A new generation is expected to arrive next year as a model in 2023. It has been seen several times in various versions, including the standard and the AMG specific.
Another sighting of the 2023 GLC was made. It’s the hybrid version of the GLC that has been seen around its hometown. The vehicle appears to have less camouflage than the previous sightings, especially around the lower portion. This video also shows a better view of the grilles and headlights.
Mercedes-Benz appears to be taking a more evolutionary and cautious approach to their top-selling crossover. It was the top-selling model in the world. It beat the C-Class in 2020, which has been the top-selling model of the company for decades. Its headlights resemble the larger C-Class models and the new C-Class. Mercedes-Benz did not cover the wheels, so we are likely to be looking at the set for the hybrid.
It will be interesting for us to see if the rear-wheel steering will be available in this model. The standard model was shown turning its rear wheels like the flagship sedan in a spy photo. This vehicle was not seen in the video. It is not known if the vehicle is a plug-in or standard hybrid. The latter is likely, given the automaker’s preference for electrification.
You may be wondering what the EQC is. The current model is essentially an ELC with electric motors and batteries, but it will be different for the next generation. Dimitris Pisillakis, CEO of Mercedes-Benz USA, stated that the next generation will be built with a dedicated EV architecture and not an ICE chassis. It will be available to US customers in 2025.
