Details are the devil.
You’ve probably already heard the basics. The turbocharged 2.0-liter engine is the big news. The engine is the same one we have seen in other N offerings. It produces 276 horsepower (206 Kilowatts) as well as 289 pound-feet (392 Newton meters) of torque to allow the front wheels. The upgraded electronic limited slip differential reduces understeer. With the optional eight speed dual-clutch auto transmission, the Elantra can reach 62 mph (100 km/h), in just 5.3 seconds. The six-speed manual should be fast enough for a quick-shifting driver.
Hyundaidoes much more than add power to the Elantra N. The video shows that the chassis has extra reinforcement and the suspension is tuned with a slight five-millimeter drop. The active exhaust system allows the driver to choose between quiet riding or a loud, booming sound from the two exhaust tips at the rear. Upgraded 19-inch wheels are equipped with sticky Michelin Pilot 4S tires and larger 14.1-inch brakes up front. It has all the mechanical components to make it an exciting sports sedan.
There are also visual improvements, and the video gives you a better idea of them. N-specific front and rear fascias can be found on N cars. Red exterior trim is required for N cars. The N-specific Easter eggs, such as the N-shaped badges that light up in the seats, are very cool. Hyundai’s new infotainment screen is also quite neat with vehicle systems monitoring and lap recorder. We visit Hyundai’s South Korean headquarters, where we see the Elantra N with aftermarket accessories.
