Watch the Lamborghini Aventador evolve through the years in 6 minutes

Lamborghini continues to improve its supercar.

It is difficult to keep Lamborghini’s lineup orderly. It is not unusual for Lamborghini to create limited-edition or one-off models of its supercars. The Aventador is no exception. The Aventador was first introduced in 2011. It has been modified several times since then. The Aventador was initially available with a naturally-aspirated 6.5-liter V12 producing 690 horsepower (514kW) and a top speed at 217 mph (350 km/h). The Aventador was priced at $393,695 as its starting price.

The Aventador LP700-4 was not the only one. In 2012, the Aventador J was unique with its 690-hp 6.5 liter V12 engine and a top speed of 217 mph. It lacked air conditioning and a radio. The Veneno was introduced by Lamborghini in 2013. The company produced 12 — three coupes, nine roadsters, and $4.5 million for each. The company also released the Aventador 50deg Anniversario in the same year. This limited-edition model consisted of 100 coupes, and 100 roadsters, each with 710 horsepower (529 kW).

It wasn’t until 2015 that Lamborghini gave Aventador a noticeable performance boost wrapped in the Superveloce packaging. The top speed was the same at 217 mph but the horsepower increased to 740 (551 megawatts). The Aventador S was introduced in 2016 with 730 horsepower (544 kW) rear-wheel steering and 730 hp (544kW). The Aventador Superveloce Jota Lamborghini introduced last year, making 759 horsepower (565 kW) and rear-wheel steering.

Although the Aventador has seen a lot of changes since 2011, it is becoming a bit old. While special editions and unique creations may keep the car looking fresh, the supercar requires a complete overhaul. If rumors are true, that could be many years away. We may not get a true Aventador successor until 2024. There’s a good possibility that Lamborghini will soon unveil its next project. The company teases a big reveal at the Frankfurt Motor Show, which will begin next month. Keep watching.
