Slide whenever you like.
The new golf R has an interesting feature: the all-wheel-drive system features a drift mode, which makes it easy to slide the tail. Automann TV demonstrates how this feature works on real roads.
It is easy to access drift mode. The R button on your steering wheel is used to access drift mode. Next, press Drift on your infotainment screen. Accept the warning message that warns people not to use this setting unless they are on closed roads or by competent drivers.
Drift mode sends power to the rear wheels, and adjusts electronic stability control. This video shows that the Drift mode results in the rear end sliding out whenever a driver chooses. It is also quite easy to catch the drift.
The 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine makes 315 horsepower (235kilowatts) as well as 310 pound-feet (442 newton meters). The vehicle can reach 60 mph (96 km/h) in 4.7 seconds, and has a top speed at 155 mph (252 kph). You can choose between a 6-speed manual or 7-speed dual-clutch transmission.
The suspension features stiffer springs with new geometry, which are 10 percent stiffer that the Golf R. The ride height of the Golf R is 0.8 inches (20 mm) lower.
The interior of the new R features a digital instrument cluster as well as a 10.0-inch touchscreen infotainment screen. The system is controlled by a touchpad controller mounted on the steering wheel. Nappa leather upholstery can be purchased as an option.
For the 2022 model year, the new Golf R will go on sale in the US in 2021. VW has not yet discussed pricing in America.
