According to the car, it produces more than 2,500 horsepower.
The Audi R8 V10 Plus has 610 horsepower (455 Kilowatts) as well as 413 pound-feet (560 Newtonms) of torque. It can travel 205 mph (330 km/h) in stock trim. These figures are quite impressive but pale in comparison with the performance of Underground Racing’s modified model. A 2017 with its X Version biturbo systems recently set a new model record at 244.8 mph (394 km/h) standing half-mile.
The impressive run is captured in the video. The engine’s whining turbos dominate the noise, and the driver feels a tug as each gear is changed. This was the first half mile event for the biturbo R8.
Underground Racing claims that the R8’s X Version biturbo upgrades allow the coupe to produce a staggering 2,500 hp (1.864 kW) when it is running on race gas. Street legal, the coupe is according the firm’s Website. The model still produces 1,200 horsepower (895 kW) when running on 93octane.
Upgrades can be quite expensive, however. Underground Racing does not list the X Version’s price, but the company’s Stage 3 biturbo systems sells for $99,000. These mods increase the R8’s horsepower to 1,000 hp (746kW) with pump gas, and 1,250 HP (932kW) when using racing fuel.
In recent years, half-mile racing has seen a rapid increase in speed. In 2012, a tuned Ford GT broke the world record for speed by traveling 212.9 mph (341 km/h). , a 2,000-hp Lamborghini Huracan of Underground Racing reached 238.6mph (383.9 km/h) in 2015. Racing Underground claims that another one of its tuned Huracans holds this record, reaching 250 mph (402 km/h) in standing half-mile (see video below).
