If you don’t think this video is convincing enough to make sure you never ever mess with trains and tracks, get your driver’s licence. You will save the life of innocent cars and possibly your own.
This footage was taken in southwest Russia’s Krasnodar region, near the Black Sea. Although the YouTube description was in Russian, Google Translate shows that the incident occurred on July 12th. There were no injuries despite the biblical collision. The driver of the UAZ sport-utility vehicle tried to take a shortcut through a series number of tracks. He soon learned that real life was not like Grand Theft Auto. He ended up getting tangled between two railway tracks.
One of them was active.
The UAZ had two passengers, so the driver was already safe. One person began recording the event, as social media has made it easy to do so. As the train is approaching the SUV, the same person shouts at the driver. The driver remains behind the wheel and tries to get it off the tracks. Just before the train completely destroys the UAZ, he finally bails out.
Although we’ve seen many car-versus train videos, two things stand out in this video. Either the driver didn’t realize just how fast the train was coming or he really loved that old off-roader, because that seconds-before-disaster escape was straight out of Hollywood. Another guy in black walks nonchalantly along the track, as though nothing is going to happen. Is it possible that Russians are always so cool under pressure or that these guys are fueled by vodka, large sacks and other nifty stuff?
It doesn’t really matter. The train always wins. Always.
