Watch Xing Mobility’s Off-Road Supercar, 1,341 HP, Hit the Dirt

This is the first time that the prototype has walked on the trail.

Supercars that are outrageously extravagant and over-the-top often disappear before they make it to production. However, Xing Mobility in Taiwan has been testing their electric supercar for over a year and could finally get on the road…or the dirt. The supercar has been seen taking to the roads on gravel and pavement in the most recent series of tests. This video also shows the car’s potential off-road capabilities.

The Xing Mobility Miss R is a strangely named electric supercar that has both on-road as well as off-road capabilities. It can be used to travel off-road with a modified tire and fender set depending on the terrain and a higher ride height. Xing does not say how long it takes to change tires or fenders.

Under the hood is a 1,341-horsepower (1,060-watt) in-house-developed electric powertrain. This setup can propel the car to speeds of 62 mph (96 km/h) in 1.8 seconds. It beats the new Tesla Roadster by a similar time and then on to speeds of 124 mph (220 km/h) in 5.1 seconds. The company claims that the technology is not limited to supercars.

Similar setups will eventually be used to make a 3.5-ton truck that can travel on the roads. An early prototype has been called “Mr. T” hilariously. Royce YC Hong, CEO and cofounder, promises that “Miss R” is more than a toy. It is also a platform where Xing Mobility can innovate advanced electric vehicle technologies.

The Miss R supercar, fresh from testing, will be displayed at AutoTronics Taipai along with an exposed version its immersive-cooled battery. It is made up of 98 modules and 4,116 cells that are submerged in 3M Novec7200 Engineered Fluid to keep it cool. It is said that the entire battery enclosure can be removed and replaced in five minutes.

There is no word on when Xing will bring the Miss R supercar into production or what it might cost. But it’s an intriguing concept.
